Creating your organization

Create an organization when you are representing a group, community, nonprofit, research team, school, cooperative, local authority, or other collective.

An organization lets your group’s work appear under one shared identity on GainForest.app.

If several people belong to the same organization, do not create separate duplicate organization pages. One person should create the organization, then invite the other team members.

When to create an organization

Create an organization if you want to:

• show a group identity on GainForest.app

• publish or manage Projects as a team

• invite other members to help with updates or evidence

• connect community stewardship work to a known organization

• make it easier for partners, funders, or supporters to understand who is behind the work

Organizations are useful for communities and local groups that want their conservation, restoration, monitoring, or education work to be visible under one banner.

When you do not need one

You probably do not need an organization if:

• you are joining the BioBlitz as an individual

• you are uploading your own biodiversity observations

• you are exploring GainForest.app for the first time

• you are not managing work on behalf of a group

There is no advantage to creating an organization for a single person. It only adds setup you may not need. You can always create or join an organization later.

What an organization can help with

An organization can help your team:

• coordinate Project updates

• keep evidence connected to the right group

• build visibility for local stewardship

• show credibility to supporters and funders

• invite team members with different permission levels

Team access

After creating an organization, invite team members instead of asking each person to create a new organization page. This keeps your group’s Projects, evidence, and public profile connected under one shared identity.

For example, if three people work for the same community group, nonprofit, or local organization, only one organization profile should be created. The first person can invite the other two as members or admins.

Use the Members tab to invite people by email or Bluesky handle.
